Origin consists of fifteen works that appropriate widely circulated images of historical and contemporary catastrophes—9/11 surveillance footage, nuclear disaster sites, mushroom clouds, and scenes of war. Once shocking, these images have become endlessly reproducible files, absorbed into the daily stream of information and consumed alongside entertainment and advertising.
Rather than restoring their historical gravity, the artist disrupts their surface. Through crude, low-tech digital erasures and the addition of smooth, thermal-like color gradients, he exposes how contemporary visual culture aestheticizes even trauma. The blunt deletions fracture the image’s integrity, while the seductive gradients mimic the logic of platform-based viewing. The tension between these gestures reveals how catastrophe is flattened, stylized, and repackaged in the age of overproduction. |
〈起源〉系列共十五件作品，挪用廣泛流通的歷史與當代災難影像——911監視畫面、核災現場、蘑菇雲與戰爭廢墟。這些曾經震撼世界的圖像，如今已成為可被無限複製與滑過的視覺檔案，與娛樂與廣告並置於日常資訊流之中。
藝術家並未試圖恢復影像的歷史重量，而是介入其表面結構：以刻意粗糙、低技術性的數位刪除破壞圖像完整性，再覆以類似熱成像的平滑色彩漸層。這種不精緻的抹除與近乎迷人的視覺效果形成張力，揭示當代視覺系統如何將災難扁平化、審美化，並重新包裝為可被觀看與消費的圖像。 |
