In "Reconsideration of Oblivion", artists from Japan, Taiwan and Ukraine re-examine their own and others' journeys through time through the clues of "tracing the figure", "returning to the scene", and "metaphors of objects", and scrutinize the forgotten people and things, and use their artworks to bring out the perspectives of disintegration, colonization, anti-war, technology, feminism and so on.
Japanese artists Taro Furukata, Aisuke Kondo, and Yukiko Nagakura touch on the nuclear energy controversy, World War II internment camps, and human trafficking in Asia, exploring the discrepancy between history's grand narratives and individual lives. Ukrainian artist Olha Kuzyura, inspired by the restoration of people under the war, uses paper as a creative medium to express the desire to protect precious things. Taiwanese artist Lan Chung-Hsuan calmly examines the destructive nature of war and politics and exposes their absurdity. Taiwanese artist Liu Yu uses video to revisit the ruins of a building that was hit by an air raid, opening up a dialog between different periods.
Today, wars and conflicts are constantly raging around the world. The forgotten wounds of history are scattered throughout our daily lives. These wounds have not yet healed and continue to threaten us like ghosts. This exhibition will reconsider "Reconsideration of oblivion" beyond the past, present, and the future through cross-cultural exchanges.
